LatinX in London

Your identity is made up of a number of layers, and being able to come to work or live in your community as your whole self has been a movement in the making for some time. When you cross different international borders, your identity and how you “classify” can change and it did for me. After spending many years in the states, identifying as Hispanic/LatinX, I found it curious upon arrival that the UK doesn’t provide the option to list my ethnicity on its forms, including those from the NHS. Here, I am “other.” I didn’t even know there was a large Latino community here, until my fiancé introduced me to it only 6 months ago. I wonder, how many other transplants have felt the same?
